Times

The dates are a day behind, it is 11.25am on 1/10/12 at the moment, and this is just after I posted the last post. The computor is being stupid, sorry.

Work experiance, and holidays!!!

Our farrier (Chelsea Fenwick, the best barefoot trimmer in the world) is coming tomorrow to do Oaty's wonky hoof at 2. After that she is taking me with her to do her runs to do some other clients. I am really excited, it will be really worthwile and I will learn lots. She is going on maternity leave soon with is very exciting. The school holidays are great! On the second week the Colemans and some other people (including me and Sky) are going up to the forest and camping there for a few days, and doing lots of riding. Hope everyone else is having a good a holiday as me!!!

Lauren riding and running

Lauren (my sister) is on a getting fit regime, which is excellent as I can excersize the horses with her while she jogs. Getting all of us fit for the summer! :) Also, she is learning to canter on Sky, which is great, and is really enjoying it. I think SKy is too, not having to have the huge heffalump (ie me) on his back all the time! Long may it last!!!

Jumping in Oaty's Paddock - 15/09/12

Today me and Sky had a really good time jumping in Oaty's paddock. He was a total super star, jumping everything up to 80cm, which isn't high but for the start of the season to do flawless rounds at that height is pretty impressive!!! Hopefully we can do some more showjumping this season, as Sky has a HUGE jump in him and showjumping is his neiche. Looking forward to the new rally. Who else will be going to Massey?

Dauphine - 19/09/2012

Dauphine was a real pain today. I couldn't get through the gate without getting reared on and hit by one of her hooves. We really need to do something about her behaviour - it is getting really dangerous. Any idea's? Leave suggestions at the comment at the bottom. :)

Mokora Valley - 08/09/12

Yesterday we went on a ride with the Coleman's at Mokora Valley, the millionaires farm on the next road over from ours. I rode Sky there. True to fashion Sue was 1 hour late. While we were waiting I rode Sky in one of the paddocks. We had a good, if slow ride. Sky gets sweaty really easily, but he isn't actually that tired. When he drinks he flicks his ears back when he swallows, which is cute. His feet are squaring off already with all the road riding. Had a great time, though, which is awesome. Sue has booked the forest camp at Woodhill for the holidays instead of going to PC camp :) Really looking forward to that. :)

Farrier - 29/08/2012

Chelsea Fenwick (our farrier) came today to do the gang. Dauphine was first and her mystery lameness looks like a small absess. She was very bad, rearing up and the lot. It looks like we have our very own Kim Kardashian! Dulci and Oaty were very good, and Sky was super! Not seedy toe, thrush or  anything that we so often have problems with. :) Hopefully he will remain that good over summer.

Robbed of Summer

The young horse kicks up his heels in protest of the leaving, bringing a cold frost in their wake.
The rivers would start dribbling over the banks, turning previously dusty patches on the quilt of his home into slop comparable to a pigs sty.
Days would curl at the edges, shortening time spent in the soft autumn sunlight.
The cold whip of the wind would whisk away any traces of leaves that might provide shelter while the miserable weather enveloped the world.
But in the darkening days with the spreading chill the tale of a young robin will be warbled to the horse as the heels he previously kicked up slid on the muddy ground.
