Forest Ride - 25/08/12

Yesterday me and Sky went on a forest ride with the Colemans and a friend from Pony Club, Courtney Pratt and her horse Star. We had a great time. Rode Sky in the copper roller. The whole time was a bit nuts, with Mike having a few little spazes and Sky and Star bucking and careening down hills. Went for a gallop up Andrea's Hill track, with was uncontrolled. They all just toke off and we had NO way of stopping them! Very dangerous of course, but what could we do about it? All in all though had a great time, and Sky's fitness training must be working because after the manic ride he was barely sweating, unlike Star, who was covered in this frothy toothepaste substance. LOL :P Catch you later,

Showjumping Practice with Erica and Maise - 18/08/2012

We had a GREAT day today down at Massey Pony Club with Erica Ness and her new horse Maisie. The grounds are currently closed, but for most of our ride had the 60x40m all-weather arena to ourselves. We set up a low grid of four jumps; a bounce, then one stride and another fence, and then 2 strides before a bigger spread. Sky was great, but he did do a bit of wobbbling before the fences, which is a VERY annoying habit of his. The grid helped that however, and before long he was doing the whole thing at 90cm - 1m consistently. Maisie and Erica also had a great time, although Maisie did have a few knocked rails. To finish we made a two stride double, and a seperate bounce. The bounce was set at 90cm, along with the first fence of the double, while the second fence was a 1.05 oxer. A few run outs (which was naughty), but in the end we were clearing it with inches to spare. Unfortunatley we didn't have a camera to capture some pictures of Sky, but when we do get some photos of him jumping I will post them. Seeya Later, Ella
