Massey ODE, 3rd March 2013

Woohoo!!!! Didn't win because of "time faults"??? Don't know how they came about as I was working the legs of the poor thing! Double clear (other than the time) and he worked brilliantly. It was misserable rainy dressage weather which brightened to scorching jumping phases. The photo is of us warming up for dressage (pro as, eh?) I worked so hard to get him that clean! He was fantastic for dressage but we had course errors when (stupid me) forgot to do the changes of diagonal. Had a fantastic day! I love you Sky!!! xx

Riding Bareback

Had a fantastic weekend!  Went up to the Coleman's and rode bareback with Courtney up to ~1mtere. Sky jumped beautifully bareback, som much easier than jumping smaller! Am defiently doing to do more of that! Fingers crossed all goes well for the ODE xx

Ribbon Day - 6/02/2013

Had a fantastic day at the West Auckland district ribbon day down at Massey. After a bit of confusion of what ring I should compete in, Sky was a total superstar. We got ribbons in 9 out of the 11 events including a first in Pleasure Pony. I love Sky so much :) Looking forward to the ODE coming up and some other competitions before we go away.

Norfolk Island

We had a great week when the Norfolk Island people here. A very busy and tiring program. I wrote a report thing someone which I will put up if anyone is interested.

Merry Christmas, Happy New Year, and Wear Sunblock!

Hey guys,

Long time since I've posted so I've got lots to catch up on. Firstly, I finished school (my last day as I leave to go to highschool) annd won Dux for highest academic acheiver. Naturally I was pretty thrilled, but sad at the same time to leave a school after 8 years. We had a fantastic Christmas, and New Year's Eve was great. Had a New Years sleepover at the Coleman's place. Me and Courtney got up really early and went out and fed the horses carrots and groomed Saudi. We were very suprised when the farrier came (on New Year's Day) to shoe Shadow. It was a good experiance for me as all our guys are barefoot trimmed.

The Coleman's are rather late risers and Sue suggested me and Courtney went riding before they got up. Courtney grazes her horse Jimmy there, and I rode Maddison's horse Mike. We had a great time, and after we had ridden we toke the saddles off a rode bareback in the pond. It was above Mike;s wither most of the time and we both got soaked! We had an awesome time though - and have made a date to do it again with Sky. I stayed at the Coleman's all day, swimming with Cass in their pool.. However, despite sunblocking and re-applying, I got VERY badly burnt, blacking out vomiting and the lot, on my back. Had a very restless night, which ended in a baking soda bath at 2 in the morning. This ended my grand plans of going riding every day!

We had guests from England over then, and they were dreadfully sick with food poison from a chicken sandwich they ate on their way to see us. We had fireworks that evening as they had missed those by the skytower. Dad made an excellent replica and had it behind our fireworks. They were reallly touched. When we head over the England in March we will visit them. I had a job feeding chickens for the next month - a nice little money earner to fund the season. I had to stay inside a lot with my sunburn, so caught up on some YouTubing (sub me!!!) but not blogging - naughty.

With the summer grass and me not being able to ride, Sky was very excitable when I got on him the other day, so excited that he dumped me... - into the tree surround, and onto the eletric fence. very sore, and had so massive bruises on my hip. Other than on New Year's day riding didn't seem to being going to well. We then went out to Piha just as I was starting to bring Sky into work again (arghhh - non horsey parents) but once I was out there it was alright. We found a really deep swimming hole with a diving board into it, which we had great fun using untill an irrate property owner told us that he had put that diving board over a public swimming hole and we couldn't use it. I mean - come on?

Then I had a tad of an accident in the surf. Got caught in a rip and straight into a set of huge waves that tossed me around like I was inside a tumble drier - I thought I was going to die! Got back to shore eventually but I still have a huge headache.

But I am back from Piha now and had a very unsuccseful morning wit Sky. Drizzly weather to begin with, and Sky was very silly, so I tried to lunge him. That didn't end to well as he pig rooted his way around and then ripped the rope from my hands and tore off across the paddock. I now have rope burn, and was severly irritated. Just as I caught him the heavens opened and I had to take him back inside.

One bit of really good news is that my billet from when I went on a Pony Club to Norfolk Island is coming back to stay. Savannah is arriving with Gina, Anna, and Dianne on Sunday and we have a great week planned for them. I have been emailing her regularly and am really looking forward to catching up as we get on really well.

Untill my next blog entry (which could be anytime from tomorrow to 2056 knowing how busy I am) have a great time riding in the summer sun. xx Ella
